Apologies for any inconvenience caused

With the 31st January filing deadline looming fast self-assessment tax returns are very much on our minds. There is an added urgency this year thanks to the complication of Brexit. At present the UK is scheduled to leave the EU on the same date as the self-assessment deadline, which could cause more problems for HMRC than usual.

Some people think that missing the deadline isn’t a big deal, or they simply forget about it.

We never like to see our clients pay more to HMRC than is necessary, and easily avoided fines are a particular frustration.

Remember, if your tax return is not filed by midnight on 31st January you will immediately be dealt an automatic £100 late filing penalty. This penalty applies even if you have no tax to pay.

After 3 months with no return, you will face penalties of £10 for each day after that second deadline – up to a maximum of £900.

Have we completed your 2019 self-assessment tax return yet?

If you have not yet supplied us with your records

please do so ASAP

Additional fees may be incurred for late processing of your return

Please note that your tax liability must be cleared funds with HMRC by 31 January 2020
